In this workshop we propose you an approach to the technique of Pastel. This technique is on the border between drawing and painting. The Pastel introduces us in a fast and direct way in the field of color and composition.
It is a discipline that belongs to the group of dry techniques, of simple and very versatile handling, and that allows us to obtain works of very diverse character and expression, depending on the handling that we make of it.
After a brief historical introduction, we will learn about the working tools, pastels and their different hardnesses, their manufacture, color palette, supports, types of paper, working styles, fixing...
Pastel painting has a fascinating lineage and is the source of many unique, moving and beautiful works of art and has been employed by some of the most famous artists of all time. From Leonardo to Picasso to Hans Holbein to Dürer to Fragonard to Degas, many artists throughout history have enjoyed the qualities of this technique.
