Leather, leather goods
Leather understood as a means of plastic expression. With its limitations, but also with its special qualities, it occupies today an important place as a material used by many contemporary creators, both in the form of modeling and leather goods.
Leather. Modeling
Modeling, as a way to introduce students to the use of leather as an artistic support. Its treatment in this workshop leads us to the world of non-conventional sculptural expression.
Days of the week and times: Tuesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Course level: I and II
Access conditions: None for the 1st course
Duration: School year from September to June
CONTENTS
- Tooling and tools
- Knowledge of the material (types of tanning, process etc.)
- Choice of the appropriate material for the part to be made.
- Different techniques: modeling, mosaics, molding, leather hardening, laminates.
- Different polychrome techniques: marbling, crackle, dyeing.
- Fire engraving.
- Finishing techniques.
Leather goods
The specialty is developed over two school years, MARROQUINERY, I and II and are taught simultaneously in the same workshop.
This workshop teaches how to make pieces and accessories for clothing, from the designs to the finishing touches. The leather articles, handmade and handcrafted, have a high acceptance in the market. Embossed, stitched, perforated, painted or polished leather is what we will use for the accessories.
Days of the week and times: Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
