Binding
Contemporary bookbinding is the evolution of artistic bookbinding, through new channels of expression, concepts and materials, while maintaining refined construction techniques.
The specialty of Bookbinding is developed over four school years; Contemporary Bookbinding I, II, III and IV and are taught simultaneously in the same workshop.
The aim of both workshops is to develop the students' abilities, attitudes, skills, manipulative skills, methods, habits and work techniques that will provide them with the necessary training and learning in the different types of bookbinding that are taught.
Courses: Contemporary bookbinding
- Days: Monday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm (3 days/week);(Fridays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
Basic binding
- Day: Wednesday from 19:30 to 21:30h
Access conditions: None
Duration: School year from September to June
Contemporary binding
- Bindings with simple structures: tucked in covers, simplified, apparent seams, Japanese, flexible, accordion, articulated, bradel.
- Cartoned
- Painting of greaseproof papers and paper assemblies Japan
- Edge-to-edge and applied mosaics
- Reliefs
- Incisions
- Impressions and back-up sanding
- Transfer
- Protection boxes
- Basic notions of restoration
Basic binding
In this course the student is introduced to simple binding materials, techniques and structures in a more leisurely manner.
The work is mainly focused on bookbinding.
